When trying to find ways to decorate with lace, it is almost impossible to not get stuck in grandma-land. Now, for those that like the old-fashioned look, you can use white doilies on everything.
In your living room, you must think in terms of color. If you want a more old-fashioned or Victorian look, stick to the plain white. For a modern twist, dye the lace in whatever hues you feel would complement or contrast your existing color pallet. If you are afraid of going over the top, dye them the new neutral- black. Black, like white, will showcase any other color that is put in front of it, or on top of it. Depending on the rest of your decorating scheme, it can add a touch of sophistication, a touch of “goth” or simply just a surprising twist to an otherwise traditional room.
